Longevity

The solid carbon clock filter lasts from nine months to a year depending on usage (if you're single, it should last a year; if you're a family, I'd change it every nine months to be safe, even if the flow is still strong.

When new, you'll notice a nice strong flow. As the cartridge filters out particulate matter, the flow will diminish due to the pores clogging. When the flow slows to a "crawl", it is time to change the cartridge.

And don't wait until you smell chlorine in the water; the filter's ability to reduce other chemicals diminishes before it's ability to reduce chlorine.

The fluoride removal cartridges last about two years unless your water is heavily flouridated.
