* If you use a shower filter (highly recommended) install the Shower Floss after the filter. (Click here for the best shower filter made. It's a real good company) * Turn the Shower Floss valve until the flow from your shower head becomes just a trickle. This will insure the Shower Floss stream has the proper pressure. * If you take a hot shower, re-adjust the water temperature to a comfortable level for your gums before turning on the Shower Floss. * Hold onto the nozzle before turning on the Shower Floss. * Don't let the nozzle touch the teeth or gums; you'll lose pressure. The stream cleans most effectively when there's space between the tip and the tooth. * It's great for gum massage too! When doing the gums at the front of your mouth, experiment with varying distances of the nozzle away from your gums. * Use the pinky of your free hand as a hook to hold your cheeks/lips away from your teeth/gums. This will give you space to move the nozzle around. * Clean horizontally first before cleaning vertically. (Vertical cleaning is when you direct the water flow into the tooth pocket.) * If any of your teeth overlap, remember to angle the stream to get in between. * When doing your horizontal cleaning (in between teeth), many people do just the "outside in", but you can direct the nozzle to also clean from behind the teeth. Just make sure when doing the front teeth that if the stream shoots out of the mouth, it doesn't hit your shower partner if you have one. * Watch where you aim the stream when it's not inside your mouth. Men especially.
