Issue 16

A Consumer Reports 2020 survey, "Most Satisfying Cars on the Market" (they do this every year). Of the 27 top most satisfying cars on the market (of all brands), Tesla had all 4 of their cars in the top ten, and they were the only battery electric vehicle manufacturer in the top ten.

And the #1 most satisfying car? The Tesla Model 3. #2, the Kia Telluride, #3, Tesla Model S, #4, Tesla Model Y. Their Model X got 10th place. Note: Not a lot of Model Ys out there at the time the survey was taken. It can be extrapolated that when this survey is done a year from now, Model Y would be #1 and Model 3 would be 2nd, and Model S would be 3rd. Not too shabby. A good car manufacturer to invest in. :)

And in global EV sales for 2020:

1st place: Tesla Model 3  365,240 units
2nd place: Wuling HongGuang Mini EV 119,255 (China only, sells for $5,000 USD, 100 mile range)
3rd place: Renault Zoe  100,431
4th place: Tesla Model Y (lots of pre-orders still waiting to be filled) 79,734
5th place: Hyundai Kona EV  65,075
6th place: VW ID.3  56,937
7th place: Nissan Leaf  55,724
8th place: Audi e-tron  47,928
9th place: Boajun E-Series  47,704
10th place: GW ORA R1  46,796

Notice, no plug-in hybrids in the top ten! The word is getting out.

And 4.9% of all car sales globally in 2020 were battery EVs!!! This is not a linear increase from 2018, 2019... it's an exponential increase! Can you guess what 2021 to 2023 EV sales will be as battery costs come down?!!

Safety isn't just about crash safety

The Shanghai China produced Tesla Model 3 scored another 5-star rating recently from the China Automotive Health Index. The top rating earned the made-in-China Model 3 the “Recommended Car of the Year in the Health Index” title. Based on results gathered in the second half of 2020, the China Automotive Health Index gave the locally-produced Model 3 a five-star rating for interior VOCs, interior odor intensity, and electromagnetic radiation safety. Isn't this the kind of car you'd want to be in on a long drive?

The rating also considered the materials Tesla used in the Model 3’s interior. Odorless and harmless high-tech synthetic materials replaced animal leather, recycled cotton, and other traditional materials. According to the agency, the synthetic materials Tesla used in the Model 3 were animal-friendly and good for the environment. Tesla’s synthetic materials reduced the production of formaldehyde and other harmful gases as well.
